You Have It All
Except a Place of Timeless Vitality

In the golden age of Baghdad, when the stars seemed to hang closer to the sky, lived a princess named Layla bint al-Najm — “Daughter of the Stars”. She was the Caliph’s only daughter, and her beauty was compared to the moon drifting above the desert.

Yet Layla was always downcast. No physician in the realm could lift her spirits. The court scholars whispered that her mind was caught between two worlds — between day and night, sun and moon.

On a moonless night, an ancient sage from Yemen appeared to the Caliph in a dream:

“Only a lounger forged from the purest gold of Zubarah oasis, covered in the velvet of the emerald night and embroidered with celestial signs, can refresh the princess. Its base must rest upon lion feet that once guarded the ancient walls of Sana’a. And upon its golden frame, the stars and moons that have shone over Arabia’s deserts since antiquity shall appear.

But remember this also: the desert cats know a secret the sons of men have long forgotten. When they rest beneath the palm shade, a low, continuous purr rises from their breast — a sound that accompanies the body as it recovers and settles into rest. Let the lounger carry that ancient purr within its frame, so that the princess may rest where the cats have always known how to recover.”

The Caliph dispatched his finest artisans. They journeyed across the desert until they found the legendary gold and precious fabric. The lion feet were cast from a forgotten king’s treasure. When completed, the lounger was placed upon the highest terrace under the open sky.

On the 14th night of the full moon, Layla rested upon it. The velvet felt cool as the desert wind; the gold, warm as the morning sun. The embroidered stars began to glow softly. For the first time in years, she slept soundly through the night — and awoke refreshed, full of joy and vitality.
